Problem
People in hot climates get ambushed by the summer electricity bill. They hate spreadsheets, they refuse to link a bank, and a chart-first budgeting app is the kind they have already deleted. Meals they understand.
Decisions
- [01]
Money as burgers
Every amount shows in the price of one meal the user picks, so the figure lands without a chart, and no bank is ever linked.
- [02]
Forecasts come as ranges
Forecasts show a low to high band with an ≈ marker. A single confident number would be a lie the user could plan around, so the app refuses to print one.
- [03]
Private by default
Data stays on the device (SQLite and Drizzle), with no login and no financial analytics. The paywall covers how far ahead the forecast reaches, and nothing else.
Outcome
- Native iOS app built solo: product, WCAG-AA design system and code
- TypeScript strict, every division guarded, offline-first
- Built for the Saudi and US markets. A public TestFlight demo is next.
